Earlier this month, it was rumored that Nintendo Switch Online would be diving into Nintendo’s handheld catalog of games to add titles from Game Boy and Game Boy Color. As it turns out, Nintendo is, in fact, expanding its classic games catalog for Nintendo Switch Online, but with games from the Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis.

Coming at some point — the launch date was not yet announced — Nintendo will begin offering a “Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack” membership. This presumably more expensive plan will provide access to a library of N64 games including:

  • Super Mario 64
  • Mario Kart 64
  • Star Fox 64
  • Yoshi’s Story
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • Mario Tennis
  • Dr. Mario 64
  • Win Back
  • Sin and Punishment

This launch lineup will likely be expanded overtime to include even more titles from the beloved Nintendo 64. Some future games we can expect to see are Banjo-Kazooie, Pokemon Snap, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Kirby 64: The Crystal Chards, Mario Golf, Paper Mario, and F-Zero X.

What’s really cool about these games coming to Nintendo Switch is they will be able to make use of the console’s online multiplayer. Nintendo promises players will be able to play these games with up to four players, such as online Mario Kart 64 races. Now I know what you’re wondering, when will we see GoldenEye 007?

Nintendo Switch Online will also be adding games from the SEGA Genesis, including:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Streets of Rage 2
  • Ecco the Dolphin
  • Castlevania: Bloodlines
  • Contra: Hard Corps
  • Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
  • Golden Axe
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • M.U.S.H.A.
  • Phantasy Star IV
  • Ristar
  • Shining Force
  • Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
  • Strider

Nintendo is going all-in on the nostalgia with this new Nintendo Switch Online membership by even launching a line of Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis wireless controllers. So if you really want that authentic old-school gaming experience, and all the awkwardness these controllers presented, you’ll have that opportunity.

More details about this expanded membership, including additional benefits, pricing and a launch date will be shared later. But for now, we can all get excited knowing N64 and SEGA Genesis classics are coming to Nintendo Switch.
