Madden 22 Week 2 roster update live: Biggest overall changes
As we begin Week 3 of the 2021-22 NFL season, EA has updated Madden 22’s rosters to reflect the Week 2 performances. There were no major surprises in this week’s update but a few notable names did get a bump in their ratings.
Most notable was a two-point increase in Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski’s overall. He’s now gone from an 86 overall launch rating to an 89 overall rating in just two weeks. And honestly, he’s deserving of it. Through two weeks of play, Gronk has already scored four touchdowns and has racked up 12 receptions for 129 yards. He’s in tip top form to start the year and something tells me this won’t be the last of his ratings increases.
Another big name to get a ratings increase is Kansas City Chiefs strong safety Tyrann Mathieu. After missing Week 1 with a positive COVID test, Mathieu made his season debut against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. And what a debut it was as Honey Badger recording two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. Mathieu’s Awareness and Catch rating both increased one point to a 99 and 82 respectively. His overall now sits at a 96.
After a rebound performance in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks, Titans running back Derrick Henry saw some ratings adjusted although he still sits at a 96 overall. Henry’s launch rating caught many by surprise as a lot of fans believe he’s the best running back in the league. He certainly made a strong case with 182 rushing yards and three touchdowns in Week 2. Henry’s catching went up to two points to a 64 but his break tackle, surprisingly, dropped three points to a 92.
Other big movers in Madden 22’s Week 2 roster update include:
- Devin Singletary (HB, Buffalo Bills) +2 to 81 OVR
- Justin Zimmer (DT, Buffalo Bills) +2 to 72 OVR
- Greg Ward Jr. (WR, Philadelphia Eagles) -2 to 87 OVR
- Jacob Hollister (TE, Jacksonville Jaguars) -2 to 69 OVR
- Olasunkanmi Adeniyi (ROLB, Tennessee Titans) +3 to 67 OVR
One player worth keeping an eye on now is Carolina Panthers half back Christian McCaffrey, who suffered a hamstring injury in Thursday night’s game against the Houston Texans. Although injuries don’t typically influence player ratings in Madden, it will be interesting to see if Henry can supplant him as the best back in Madden 22.
