Los Angeles Rams

10-7, 3rd place in NFC West (No. 6 seed in NFC)

The Rams have the unfortunate luck of playing in the ultra-competitive NFC West.  But they’ve got the talent to potentially win the Super Bowl and I’m a little surprised with Madden’s simulation prediction.

As I mentioned previously, the Rams big offseason acquisition was quarterback Matthew Stafford. Make no mistake, Stafford is a gunslinger and a clear upgrade over Jared Goff. If he can stay healthy, the Rams should improve on the offensive side of the ball.

Madden 22 predicts a big year for Stafford in L.A. The simulation calls for 4,358 passing yards and 39 touchdowns for the veteran with only nine interceptions. That’s definitely doable, especially with all the talent the Rams have.

Unfortunately, Cam Akers is out for the season with a torn Achilles. In the simulation, Sony Michel carried the bulk of the load with 279 carries and 1,079 yards. Darrell Henderson Jr. took backup duty with another 392 yards and six touchdowns.

Besides Stafford, the biggest acquisition for the Rams this offseason was wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Jackson will stretch the field for the Rams and assuming he stays healthy, should open things up for this offense in a big way.

Madden predicts a big season from this talented receiving corp. led by DeSean Jackson, COoper Kubb, Tyler Higbee and Robert Woods. Here are their stats:

  • DeSean Jackson: 85 receptions, 1,261 yards, 15 touchdowns
  • Cooper Kupp: 90 receptions, 929 yards, 7 receptions
  • Robert Woods: 64 receptions, 792 yards, 6 touchdowns
  • Tyler Higbee: 67 receptions, 802 yards, 5 touchdowns

I honestly think the Rams will take the division in real life, so I’m a bit taken aback by this third-place finish in the Madden simulation.
