Seattle Seahawks

11-6, 2nd place in NFC West (No. 5 seed in NFC)

The NFC West is predicted to deliver three playoff teams, with the Seattle Seahawks claiming the No. 5 seed (since they lost the division). Any time you’ve got Russell Wilson at quarterback, you’re going to be in contention and Madden predicts big things for the veteran.

In the simulation, Wilson threw for 4,706 yards and 32 touchdowns with just eight interceptions. He also ran for 359 yards and two more touchdowns. Chris Carson led the team with 1,146 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns, while Rashaad Penny added another 346 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.

Seattle has a talented receiving corp., so here’s a look at their simulated stats:

  • Tyler Lockett: 88 receptions, 755 yards, 5 touchdowns
  • D.K. Metcalf: 82 receptions, 947 yards, 7 touchdowns
  • Steven Sims: 67 receptions, 973 yards, 5 touchdowns
  • Chris Carson: 34 receptions, 659 yards, 7 touchdowns

As a unit, the Seahawks finished with the fourth-best offense in total yards (6,632) and points per game (29.7). The defensive unit was just as effective with the sixth-fewest yards allowed (5,884) and tenth in overall points allowed (406). The Seahawks also finished fourth in turnover difference (+8).

I think it’s more likely that the Seahawks win the NFC West than it is the 49ers. And let’s also not forget about the Los Angeles Rams, who are potential Super Bowl contenders.

As the second-place team in the NFC West, the Seahawks enter the playoffs as the No. 5 seed, behind all four division winners.
