Detroit Lions

3-14, 4th place in NFC North

The Detroit Lions made headlines this offseason with their blockbuster trade, sending veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams for quarterback Jared Goff and a pair o first-round picks in 2022 and 2023. Clearly, the Detroit Lions are playing for the future and it doesn’t really matter if Goff is part of that future or not. The point is, they might be competitive in games this season — they may even score a bunch of points — but the Detroit Lions aren’t going to win a bunch of games.

There’s not a whole lot to takeaway from the Madden sim for the Lions. And honestly, it doesn’t even matter. This is a fourth-place team on paper, in Madden and probably in real life.

I guess if there’s one thing to really take away from the sim, it’s that the Lions finished with the worst record in the NFL, which means they could get the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. So, there’s a potentially bright future!

If you are a Lions fan, here are some of the noteworthy stats from the sim:

  • Jared Goff: 4,358 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, 13 interceptions
  • Jamaal Williams: 607 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns
  • D’Andre Swift: 516 rushing yards, 4 touchdowns, 488 receiving yards, 6 receiving touchdowns
  • Tyrell Williams: 74 receptions, 1,066 receiving yards, 5 touchdowns
  • T.J. Hockenson: 73 receptions, 885 receiving yards, 4 touchdowns
  • Quintez Cephus: 64 receptions, 413 receiving yards, 4 touchdowns

So if you play Fantasy Football, I suppose those are some Lions players you could look at. As for the Lions’ playoff potential, don’t get your hopes up.
