3. Chris Driedger

You can’t win games without having great performances out of your starting goaltender and that is exactly what Chris Driedger will be for the Seattle Kraken — their starting goaltender. Believe it or not, Chris Dreidger has already signed a 3-year $10.5 million contract extension with the Kraken. This is a sign that the team has high hopes for him and that he will hopefully be a backbone that they can trust long term.

Driedger was a backup goalie in the NHL last season. He managed to play in only 23 games in the 2020-2021 season, scooping up up 14 wins with an impressive 2.07 GAA and .927 SV%. Three of those fourteen wins happened to be shutouts as well. Head coach Dave Hakstol would be thrilled if Driedger can perform as well as he did last season. If he can do just that, it will make picking up wins for the Seattle Kraken come a tad bit easier.

Being 27 years old is another positive aspect to take into account because he is right in the prime of his NHL career. Chris Driedger’s overall will not be overly high and it should be close as to if he makes it into the top five rated players for the Seattle Kraken. However, given that there are not many options to choose from, Driedger should crack the top five rated players on the team in NHL 22.
