Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin has been out for a bit and…my goodness do I love it. Even my kids have been all about it. The turn-based monster collecting/fighting game (that is definitely not Pokemon) has been getting some solid reviews from all over the board so Capcom doesn’t have much to worry about for a while. But that has not stopped them from already starting to roll out free events.

The newest event came out today and it is exceptional. No new story content or anything like that, but you can acquire a Palamute — the awesome ninja wolves that help out in Monster Hunter Rise. Better yet, you can acquire them in a multitude of different element types meaning you can have good boys for any occasion.

So, first thing you need to do is get some bottle caps together. The Felyne merchant that takes bottle caps is currently selling tickets to a Palamute Co-op quest. Regular ones cost 8 caps, those don’t always grant Palamute eggs, and the ones they do tend to have neutral element types. The more advanced ones that give you Palamutes with element strengths and better stats are going to start at 50 caps which…oof, that’s a lot.

If you don’t have the caps but wanna dive directly into the events, you can also check the bulletin board and see if you can join someone else’s just keep refreshing. For some reason people are being REALLY stingy with the tickets and making them private but I’ve gotten into seven regular and three rare versions of the events by joining others, keep at it and you’ll get it.

You don’t fight a Palamute (which is good because I wouldn’t have the heart to hit it) but their eggs will be hidden in the nest of whatever you battled. You can’t miss it, it has a pattern like a throwing star. Look at this thing.

Get that bad boy home and get ready to hatch it and be ready for one of the most adorable hatching moments in the entire game.

Not only does the Palamute look amazing and holds its own in battle quite well but one of the biggest perks is that it is FAST. It can run across maps and up vine walls with a quickness normally not seen in the game making traversal a lot more efficient and fun. Get yours today!
