Single Player – Warframe

Warframe takes the cake here by a mile. All or most of the content in the game can easily be played without the need for additional players. Though, while it sounds lonely, it can definitely be enjoyed more with a full party.

A majority of the quests are done alone and there aren’t any incentives to play in a group other than spawning more enemies per player and having more Prime parts to choose from in Void fissure missions. As a veteran player myself, I usually only play cooperatively with people who are actually on my friends list, given server issues and communicating specific personal goals amongst each other.

2. Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 is also another example of a game where all or most of the content can be done solo. Of course, playing with a group of people means more enemies will spawn. More enemies means more loot! However, when it comes to farming certain weapons and gear, you’re most likely to save and quit your game constantly, making the inviting friends part to be a hassle.

3. Outriders

Outriders can be enjoyed as a single player experience, especially with the right builds or for a good challenge. This game feels more like a complete package when playing in a group just because of the devastating ability synergies and tough-as-nails late game encounters with enemies. There’s something satisfying dealing large damage numbers to your foes, but it’s a way more enjoyable experience when you can amp those numbers up with the help of a friend.

4. Destiny 2

While Destiny 2 can be played alone, there are sets of content down the line that would be much more enjoyable with a full squad. Some content, namely the raids and the PVP are definitely areas in the game where having an assembled team is needed. It’s not like you’re going to be missing out on content if you don’t have friends to take on Nightfall or PVP with. It is better to obviously check LFG sites and use the game’s matchmaking to find preset fireteams. The raids in this franchise are some of the most challenging and engaging aspects in any first person shooter game in a long time.

Alternatively, if you are looking for a more cooperative experience out of a looter shooter. Destiny 2 reigns supreme in that regard, followed by Outriders, then Borderlands 3, and finally Warframe.
