The NFL Draft is almost upon us. On Thursday, April 29, Round 1 of the 2021 NFL Draft will kickstart the event. And with that, it’s quite possible that we could get our first announcement regarding Madden 22.

As we previously pointed out, the latest Madden game is usually revealed during or around the time the NFL Draft takes place. It’s not always the first day, sometimes it’s the very last or a few days after. Either way, it’s quite likely that EA will announce Madden 22 at some point in the next few weeks.

With the announcement typically comes the reveal of the cover athlete. Last year, it was Lamar Jackson. This year, there are quite a few candidates who could be worthy cover athletes for Madden 22. Here are our predictions!

Tom Brady (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Tom Brady is coming off winning his record 7th Super Bowl. And he did so at the ripe age of 43-years-old. While there’s debate as to whether or not Brady is the best quarterback to ever play the game, there’s no denying he’s the most winningest. With 10 Super Bowl appearances, 7 wins, and 5 Super Bowl MVPs, there’s not a player more deserving of the cover of Madden 22.

Even at 43-years-old, Brady was statistically one of the best quarterbacks in the league last year. He threw for 4,633 yards, 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He was tied with Russell Wilson for second-most touchdown passes, behind only Aaron Rodgers.

Brady last appeared on the cover of Madden NFL 18 in 2017. He was also the cover athlete of that year’s season of Madden NFL Mobile. Brady is undoubtedly a legend and would be worth honoring on the cover, but I think EA likes to highlight younger players who are the future of the league. Of course, few of these younger players have yet to knock Brady off his horse.
