MLB The Show 21 RTTS: How to change pitches in Road to the Show

When creating a Ballplayer for Road to the Show in MLB The Show 21 this year, you’ll initially be encouraged to try out being a two-way play, much like Shohei Ohtani. You’ll have considerable control over this option, emphasizing what position you’d like to play as well as the type of pitcher.

When pitching, you’ll start off the game with a traditional arsenal of pitch types. It’s usually a fastball, changeup and curveball. But part of the fun of creating a Road to the Show player is customizing them to fit whatever playstyle you enjoy.

How to change your pitches in Road to the Show

As you play games throughout your career, you’ll be presented with multiple training options on your days off (usually about once a week as a pitcher). If you visit the bullpen, you’ll have the option to replace one of the pitches in your repertoire.

You can only replace one pitch at a time per Bullpen training session and the pitch types available to you are random.

As you’ll see in the image below, I have the option to replace the pitch in any one particular slot with a specific pitch. I can replace my Slot 1 pitch (which was a Fastball) with a Slider. My Slot 2 pitch (a Running Fastball) could be replaced with Slurve. The third option was replacing my Slot 3 pitch (a Curveball) with a Sinker. The replacement pitches are always random on any given Bullpen session, so you may have to wait a while before the pitch you want shows up.

Once you select to replace a pitch, the new one will show up the next time you take the mound. It’s that easy!
