MLB The Show 21: Best power hitters in the game
Eugenio Suarez (3B, Cincinatti Reds)
- Overall: 88
- Power R: 89
- Power L: 93
- Contact R: 64
- Contact L: 74
Eugenio Suarez plays for the Cincinnati Reds, so he probably doesn’t get the same attention as other power hitters on more relevant teams. But what if I told you he was second in the league in home runs in 2019 with 49 — behind only Pete Alonso. Last year, he hit 15 home runs in just 57 games.
Suarez is another good example of the home run-strikeout era. He’s got 164 career home runs and 883 career strikeouts with a .260 career batting average. He’s not quite as drastic as Joey Gallo in terms of home run or strikeout, but he’s still a pure basher.
Trevor Story (SS, Colorado Rockies)
- Overall: 91
- Power R: 75
- Power L: 85
- Contact R: 68
- Contact L: 94
Trevor Story has the benefit of playing in the hitter-friendly Coors Field. But he’s a solid hitter regardless. Since 2016, he has hit 134 home runs while notching a .277 batting average. He owns a .532 slugging percentage for his career. The fact that Story put up great hitting numbers as a shortstop used to be something of a rare occurrence in the Majors. These days it’s not so uncommon anymore.
Story doesn’t have the greatest power ratings in MLB The Show 21 — and he certainly wouldn’t be my first option — but he’s an incredible addition to any lineup. He’s got amazing contact and solid power against lefties in particular.
