Houston Astros

  • Rank: 6th
  • Contact: 5th
  • Power: 18th
  • Pitching: 6th
  • Defense: 13th
  • Speed: 13th

This one is probably going to upset some folks. The Houston Astros, guilty of the cheating scandal, are still considered the 6th best team in MLB The Show 21. Sony San Diego seems to believe the players on this roster are not a product of the cheating and are instead talented. They’ve got quite a few top-rated players, including 3 Alex Bregman (92 OVR), SP Zack Greinke (90 OVR), 2B Jose Altuve (88 OVR) and SS Carlos Correa (87 OVR). SP Justin Verlander (91 OVR) is also on the team’s AAA roster in the game.

Los Angeles Angels

  • Rank: 13th
  • Contact: 2nd
  • Power: 11th
  • Pitching: 17th
  • Defense: 22nd
  • Speed: 19th

Despite a team budget of $229M, the Angels rank just 13th in MLB The Show 21. They’ve got the best player in the game on their roster in CF Mike Trout (99 OVR). They’ve also got a ton of talent around him, including 3B Anthony Rendon (93 OVR), 2B David Fletcher (87 OVR), SP Dylan Bundy (80 OVR) and CP Raisel Iglesias (80 OVR). Two-way Japanese player Shoei Ohtani is rated an 80 overall as well.

Oakland Athletics

  • Rank: 15th
  • Contact: 24th
  • Power: 12th
  • Pitching: 12th
  • Defense: 3rd
  • Speed: 29th

The Oakland Athletics are a middle-of-the-road team in MLB THe Show 21, and that’s evidenced early on in real life so far. Their best-rated player is 3B Matt Chapman (91 OVR). However, they’ve got some other talent as well including CF Ramon Laureano (86 OVR), CP Trevor Rosenthal (84 OVR) and 1B Matt Olson (83 OVR).

Texas Rangers

  • Rank: 27th
  • Contact: 29th
  • Power: 13th
  • Pitching: 27th
  • Defense: 19th
  • Speed: 6th

Aside from RF Joey Gallo (89 OVR), there’s not much going on for the Texas Rangers. Their next best player is CP Jose Leclerc (81 OVR). They’ve got some young talent, however, in 24-year-old RP Jonathan Hernandez (76 OVR)

Seattle Mariners

  • Rank: 28th
  • Contact: 30th
  • Power: 21st
  • Pitching: 26th
  • Defense: 15th
  • Speed: 18th

The Mariners’ two best-rated players are both starting pitchers, but that’s not much when they are still only rated in the mid-to-low 80s. SP Marco Gonzales (84 OVR) and SP James Paxton (83) lead the way for the Mariners, who also have 2B Dylan Moore (81 OVR) and 3B Kyle Seager (80 OVR).
