MLB The Show 21 ratings revealed: Top rated players at each position
First Basemen
When it comes to first basemen, this list was pretty easy to predict. And we got it right for the most part.
Freddie Freeman checks in with the best rating at 95 overall. And that’s really no surprise at all. He was the best-rated player in the game last year, and his overall actually jumped in MLB The Show 21.
Checking in behind him is Paul Goldschmidt and Jose Abreu with very similar ratings of 89 and 88 overall, respectively. As I wrote in my predictions, you could make the case that either of these players deserves to be the second-best rated behind Freeman. I happen to think Sony San Diego mixed them up, but perhaps they don’t think Abreu can replicate his MVP season.
Behind the top three, the ratings get a little muddied with Luke Voit, Pete Alonso and Max Muncy all in the mid-80s. I think this is a pretty accurate representation of the current first base situation in the Majors.
- Freddie Freeman (Atlanta Braves) – 95 OVR
- Paul Goldschmidt (St. Louis Cardinals) – 89 OVR
- Jose Abreu (Chicago White Sox) – 88 OVR
- Luke Voit (New York Yankees) – 86 OVR
- Pete Alonso (New York Mets) – 85 OVR
- Max Muncy (Los Angeles Dodgers) – 85 OVR
- Anthony Rizzo (Chicago Cubs) – 83 OVR
- Matt Olson (Oakland Athletics) – 83 OVR
- Rhys Hoskins (Philadelphia Phillies) – 81 OVR
- Joey Votto (Cincinatti Reds) – 81 OVR
If you’re wondering where the love for Vladamir Guerrero Jr. is, it should be noted that he’s a third baseman in MLB The Show 21, so he doesn’t crack this list. But even so, you may be surprised with his rating.
