MLB The Show 21 ratings revealed: Top rated players at each position
Second Basemen
I have to admit, I’m a little surprised at just how accurate our prediction for top second basemen was. LeMahieu and Albies top the list, with both players tied with a 93 overall.
Albies is struggling a little bit to start the season, but I fully expect him to be among the best players at the position when it’s all said and done. The same goes for Brandon Lowe, who is the third-best second baseman in MLB The Show 21 to start the season.
Perhaps the most exciting inclusion is New York Mets’ Jeff McNeil. The 28-year-old has quietly emerged as one of the best players in the game, so it’s nice to see him finally get recognition in the game.
Rounding out the top five is not Jose Altuve, but Whit Merrifield. Honestly, this one caught me off guard a bit. I fully expected Altuve to crack the top five, despite the uncertainty surrounding the sign-stealing scandal. He’s off to a solid start in real life, so believing he’s talented and not just a cheater isn’t much of a stretch. Plus, he’s actually rated the same as Merrifield, with an 88 overall, so it’s not like he isn’t considered one of the top five.
Rounding out the top ten is David Fletcher, Jake Croneworth (who is currently one of the best in real life right now), Gleyber Torres and Kolten Wong. Check out the ratings:
- D.J. LeMahieu (New York Yankees) – 93 OVR
