Sanrio x Animal Crossing: Everything Étolie’s Amiibo card unlocks
The latest Animal Crossing crossover with Sanrio, the folks behind Hello Kitty, has kicked off with a batch of amiibo cards that unlock various items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. If you were able to snag these cards before the scalpers got to them, you can get some pretty cool stuff.
There are six cards that you can collect (currently from Target only in the United States. Each of these has a picture of a camper filled with furniture themed after a particular Sanrio character as well as showing a driver who is loosely themed after that particular character. One of the things I absolutely love about this is that the animals driving aren’t the same kind of character as the character. The rabbit “My Melody” is represented by a deer villager named Chelsea who is wearing rabbit ears, Siblings Kiki and Lala are represented by brightly colored sheep. It’s amazing.
That sheep, for the record, is named Étolie, and yes, I had to look it up before I felt confident speaking her name out loud. It’s “eh-twal” for the record. You’re welcome. It’s the French word for “star” and she absolutely dressed like one.
Scanning Étoile’s card at the Town Hall or Harv’s Island will unlock all of Sanrio’s Kiki & Lala-themed furniture featuring the blue and pink human star twins. If you’re curious, here’s all the Kiki & Lala-themed furniture and clothing.
This is a bunch of straight-up Kirby-level cuteness. Cloud beds, tables that look like shooting stars and…whatever the heck this cloud maker is, I ordered one and haven’t received it yet. We’ll see but even if it’s nothing, what a cool and unique item to place on my island.
In addition to all the cute furniture and whatnot, you can also scan Étolie’s card at the Town Hall ATM to invite the sheep of a million colors to your campground. If she doesn’t move in on her first visit, don’t let the wool be pulled over your eyes, with one-or-two more invites she’ll be happy to move to the island with ewe. (I’m so sorry.)
Étoile has a lot going on as a villager. Her big, puffy furniture makes her home look tiny and she’s absolutely a diva but for someone going for a bright colorful motif or for someone wanting some cool celestial-themed furniture you could do way worse than Étoile’s collection and residency. Just make sure you grab your cards from Target soon if you’re looking to get in on it.
