Room to Grow review: A thorn in your brain
By Vivek Singh
Room to Grow introduces a cactus (You) whose objective is to push other cactuses into their right spot. Simple, right?
It is a simple yet intriguing puzzle game that will twist and turn your brain. Whether a break away from a high-spec gaming session like Fortnite or Call of Duty or simply to move away from your stressful rut, this game does the job.
The developers of this game, it seems, had one plain rule – to keep it simple. Undoubtedly, this game is easy to understand but hard to master.
The easiest way to beat this game is by simple logic. Well, not that simple if you ask me. The initial levels are easy to beat and give you a good grasp of the game, but as the game progresses it gets tougher.
There are different maps in the game known as ‘Otherworld’ filled with fun levels. To advance to another ‘Otherworld,’ you need to complete all the levels present. At the moment, I have tried two otherworlds – Forest and Mountains. Otherworlds don’t bring any newness in the game except for the background feel.
There’s no one way to play this game. As you can see in the reference picture below, to reach the end, you don’t have to solve every level in your way. You can choose the route you wish to.
This game clearly helps you exercise your mind, helps you develop logic but at the same time can potentially build up your anxiety level at later stages. Unquestionably, this game forces you to look at things from a varied perspective.
Room to Grow is a great puzzle game to rush blood through your brains but there are better games on the table that do the job like monument valley and are more engaging. You may enjoy the game at the start but will imminently get bored of it as it has nothing that creates excitement amongst you.
If you’re a crazy head for puzzle games then you may give it a shot.
