In 2011, Mortal Kombat underwent its first major reboot following some of its spinoffs over the years. It was an excellent update to an already legendary fighting series, and still remains as such. It took place in the continuity following Mortal Kombat Armageddon, and included 28 playable characters at launch. It then added fighters like Freddy Krueger and a few other familiar faces. It may have debuted a few console generations ago, but it’s still well worth jumping into to see how the classic 2D fighting mechanics have evolved over time.
