2. Trevor Story

Trevor Story was the second-best shortstop in MLB The Show 21 with a 92 rating and honestly, I can see him coming into MLB The Show 21 with the same rating.

Story has been one of the most consistent offensive players at the position. The 28-year-old has a career .277 average and has smacked 134 home runs. Among shortstops, he’s consistently atop the league in all major offensive categories. However, he does have the benefit of playing in Coors and his stats are reflected in that.

Still, it’s hard to deny Trevor Story is one of the most explosive shortstops in the league. In 2020, he hit a solid .289 with 11 home runs and 28 RBIs. It was slightly down from his .294 average in 2019, a season in which he hit 35 home runs and 85 RBIs. In 2018, he hit .291 and 37 home runs with a career-high 108 RBIs.

So while Story’s stats are impressive, he has somewhat flattened out or, in some cases, gone down slightly since his career highs a few years ago. I think Story has reached his peak, but he’s still among the top at his position and I think he’ll begin the season in MLB The Show with a rating in the low 90s.

Rating prediction: 92 overall
