Super Bowl LV: EA’s Madden 21 sim predicts Chiefs over Buccaneers
For the past few years, EA’s Madden NFL franchise has been used to predict the winner of the Super Bowl. The simulation results aren’t always correct, but the game does have a pretty impressive track record.
Dating back to Super Bowl 38 in 2004, Madden has gone 11-6 in its predictions — including a perfect prediction for Super Bowl 49 in which Madden 15 correctly simulated a 28-24 New England Patriots win over the Seattle Seahawks.
With Super Bowl LV this weekend, EA has once again summoned Madden to predict the winner between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Despite a Herculean effort by Tom Brady, who at the age of 43 continues to defy Father Time, the Buccaneers are predicted to fall to the Chiefs 37-27, which would give Kansas City back-to-back Super Bowl titles.
Patrick Mahomes is predicted to take home his second straight Super Bowl MVP award, but both quarterbacks put up tremendous stats. Mahomes threw for 422 yards and four touchdowns, while Brady threw for 332 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
In addition to the highlight video, EA provided a quarterly recap of the game and — if the simulation is even remotely accurate to how the game will unfold — it looks like fans will bein for quite a treat.
Madden 21 predicts a halftime score of 14-13 in favor of the Chiefs after the Buccaneers are held to two field goals. Meanwhile, Mahomes is predicted to throw for two first-half touchdowns (one to RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire and another to WR Tyreek Hill).

The two quarterbacks trade touchdowns again to start the second half with Mahomes tossing a 63-yard bomb to Tyreek Hill, while Brady answers with a 17-yard touchdown to Mike Evans. Mahomes hits TE Travis Kelce for a touchdown to end the third quarter.
Brady, known for his fourth-quarter magic, hits longtime teammate Rob Gronkowski to tie the game. But it’s Mahomes with the last answer, taking the game into his own hands (and feet) and scrambling for a 12-yard touchdown run that gives the Chiefs the lead. Kansas City would secure their lead by kicking a field goal, resulting in a final score of 37-27.
Of course, this is only according to EA’s simulation in Madden 21. Tune back tomorrow morning for AppTrigger’s own simulation of Super Bowl LV. Madden 20 correctly predicted the Chiefs’ win over the 49ers as well.
