As we enter the third month of the PlayStation 5’s existence, what games can we look forward to playing on the PS5 in January 2021? Here’s what’s coming!

Can you believe the PlayStation 5 is already turning three-months-old? My little gaming baby is growing up so fast! Heading into the PS5’s third month of existence, we’ve only just scratched the surface of what Sony’s next-gen console can do.

While we’ll probably get a slew of new game announcements in the coming weeks and months — setting us up for what will undoubtedly be a busy Fall schedule — here’s what’s coming to the PS5 in January 2021:

  • MXGP 2020 – January 14
  • Hitman 3 – January 20
  • Ride 4 – January 21
  • Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy – January 25
  • The Pedestrian – TBA

The PlayStation 5 will see a total of five games released for it. Most of them will be getting a simultaneous launch on the PlayStation 4 as well.

Hitman 3 is probably the biggest game coming in January. This is the eighth installment in the series but the third and final installment in the World of Assassination trilogy, which began in 2016. Once again, you’ll be controlling the deadly assassin, Agent 47, in this stealth action game, carrying out contract assassinations of criminal targets across the globe.

Similar to other games launching on PS4 and PS5 simultaneously, Hitman 3 will allow for a free next-gen upgrade. Just make sure that if you buy a physical copy of the game you end up buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X with a disc drive. If you buy the digital version, it doesn’t matter as you’ll simply be able to download the next-gen digital version.

Ride 4 is another very exciting game coming to PS5, especially if you’re a fan of motorbike racing. On PS5, you’ll get reduced load times and faster streaming of textures. The DualSense controller’s triggers will also offer resistance as you press on the gas and break and the haptic feedback will let you feel the bike’s vibrations.

In addition to these titles, a lot of the PS4 games coming in January will also be playable on the PS5 via the system’s backward compatibility feature. This will include games like Five Nights at Freddy’s: Core Collection (Jan. 12), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition (Jan. 14), and Super Meat Boy Forever (TBA).
