Shuten Doji (Darkness in the Capital)

So, this demon is once again making my list, but for reasons that make even more sense as you play through the game. I conquered him and can comfortably fight him in the base game and other content, but Shuten Doji makes a comeback of sorts at the end of Darkness in the Capital. When you reach The Revelry Ends mission, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

This drunkard sports the same move set as the original Shuten Doji back in the Mausoleum of Evil mission, but faster, stronger, and more aggressive. On top of that, especially with the curse buff from Dream of the Demon and onward, he’s even more of a beast. I would suggest the same plans I gave in my previous article to fight him, but if you can, this is a boss you may actually want to bust out a sloth talisman or two on.

Luckily though, you’ll have Minamoto no Yorimitsu to fight alongside you during this fight. I can’t imagine fighting THIS version of him without an NPC’s help. You’ll definitely want to use poison-imbued weapons as that’s his weakness. You’ll also want to have Yorimitsu lead the charge and take the brunt of the hits as you go for back hits and openings when he falls over or changes the arena into a dark realm. Sadly though, the possible soul core he drops is the same as getting one from a non-DLC Shuten Doji.
