If you’re looking to score some good deals for the PlayStation 5 this Black Friday, here are some of the best PS5 sales retailers are offering.

So you’re on the hunt for a PlayStation 5 this Black Friday. I first want to say, good luck. The PS5 only just released this month and as one of this year’s hottest electronic items, it’s pretty much sold out everywhere.

And even if a retailer does have a PS5 in stock, you probably won’t see it on store shelves. That’s because most stores are opting to conduct online sales as to avoid massive crowds from gathering during the pandemic.

There are no PS5 console discounts

Because the PlayStation 5 just released you probably won’t find any big sales or discounts on the console. In fact, you’ll be lucky if you even find one in stock. The console sells out almost immediately it becomes available online. But for those of you still looking, here’s some helpful places to look on Black Friday.

PS5 game discounts

Again, because the PlayStation 5 is new, it’s rare you’ll find any discounts on PS5-exclusive titles. However, you may be able to find discounts on games that are playable on the PS5 via backward compatibility.

PlayStation Store

The PlayStation Store is hosting its Black Friday sale and has an entire section dedicated to games that were released for PS4 but provide a free upgrade to the PS5 version (when it becomes available). The bulk of the sale is pretty much limited to various versions of FIFA 21, Madden NFL 21, and Watch Dogs: Legions. Here are some highlights:

The cool thing about the PlayStation 5 is that it’s backward compatible with almost the entire library of PS4 games. Because of that, you can also shop the PS4 section of the Black Friday deal and find tons of other great deals on games, including The Last of Us Part II ($29.99), Ghost of Tsushima ($40.19) and more.

Remember, every game you buy on the PlayStation Store is the digital version so you don’t have to worry about which version of the PlayStation 5 console you own. These games are playable on both the console with the disc drive as well as the Digital Edition.

Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, GameStop, etc.

Most of the major retailers are offering the same type of sale. It’s highly unlikely you’ll find discounts on PS5 launch titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales or Demon’s Souls. Instead, you’ll likely find discounts on PS4 games.

In most cases, the stores will offer games are varying price points ranging from $29.99 to $19.99. Here are the links to each store’s Black Friday sale online.

Because there are so many games to choose from, I’ve gone ahead and picked out some of my recommendations and included the cheapest place(s) to find it.

  • God of War – PlayStation Hits ($9.99) – Best Buy, GameStop, Target
  • Kingdom Hearts All-In-One Package ($19.99) – Best Buy, GameStop
  • Persona 5 ($9.99) – GameStop
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 ($19.99) – Best Buy
  • The Last of Us Remastered – PlayStation Hits ($9.99) – Best Buy, GameStop
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End ($9.99) – Best Buy
  • UNCHARTED: The Lost Legacy – PlayStation Hits ($9.99) – Best Buy
  • Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection ($9.99) – Best Buy

Most of these games should be playable on the PlayStation 5; however if you buy a physical disc make sure you own the PlayStation 5 with the disc drive. You obviously won’t be able to insert a game disc into the PS5 Digital Edition since it doesn’t have a disc drive.

PlayStation Plus

If you own a PS5 and play games online you’ll need PlayStation Plus. You can buy a one-year membership for $44.99 at GameStop. Normally this costs $59.99, so you’re getting about 25 percent off. The cool thing about PS Plus is you get a free PlayStation 5 game every month. For December, it’s Worms Rumble.
