Game Nostalgia in the Air

Activision is in good company in the game nostalgia trend. Developers and publishers like Nintendo are also riding the wave, not to mention the countless live-action Disney remakes coming out.

While investing in the nostalgia craze is a good way to boost revenue for video game companies, it also shows how innovative the industry has become. For example, Nintendo is rebooting Mario classics for the Switch in honor of its 35th anniversary.

It’s a way to give fans what they want and bring the latest technology into the mix. New controls, longer gameplay and better graphics will all be essential for remakes.

Developers get to reinvent classics while also offering traditional games to fans. Remaking an old game will draw in people who want to play it on the newest platform. Continuing a series will attract fans who used to play the original versions when they were younger. It’s a win-win for everyone.

Plus, the classics are too fun not to play.

Riding the Wave

Activision is right where it needs to be. 2020 has brought many ups and downs, but the video game industry is booming thanks to nostalgia. Diving into old favorites on new platforms is a unique experience that all kinds of fans can enjoy.

With all the revivals — and Activision likely to keep rebooting classics — which games are you ready to rediscover?
