Genshin Impact: How to replenish Original Resin

Original Resin is the energy resource in Genshin Impact that’s used to obtain rewards.

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play action role-playing game that launched a few weeks ago on PlayStation 4, PC and mobile devices. The game has been met with wildly enthusiast response from players for the sheer amount of content it offers. But as a free-to-play game, especially one for mobile, there is one system that not everyone is a fan of: Original Resin.

Original Resin is the energy resound in Genshin Impact. Early in the game, you won’t really be using Original Resin as you complete story quests or side missions or explore. However, once you complete most of these tasks around AR 30+, you’ll find yourself completing daily login quests and farming dungeons for artifacts and weapon upgrade materials. This is where Original Resin comes into play.

While you can complete these activities without having Resin, you need it to collect the rewards. Here’s the cost for each:

  • Ley Line Outcrops: 20 Resin
  • Abyssal Domains: 20 Resin
  • Elite Bosses: 40 Resin
  • Weekly Bosses: 60 Resin

With Resin capped at 120, it doesn’t take long for you to run out. And the amount of time it takes to fully recharge is 16 hours.

Wait

Sadly, there is no way to farm for Resin. You can either wait patiently for Original Resin to passively restore but that can take a while. You’ll receive 1 Resin every 8 minutes (120 in 16 hours). And remember, that’s the max you can ever store.

While you can’t farm for Resin, you can replenish it.

Fragile Resin

You can use Fragile Resin to restore Original Resin by 60 points. Fragile Resin is a consumable you can obtain by rasing your Adventure Rank. At certain Adventure Rank levels, you will be rewarded with Fragile Resin.

Primogems

Primogems are a premium currency in Genshin Impact that can be purchased with real money. Although they are sometimes provided as a reward for completing activities or quests in the game, it’s not nearly at a rate where you’ll be able to quickly replenish Resin. Plus Primogems are also spent on performing Wishes (Gacha).

You can replenish 60 Resin each time you spend Primogems, up to six times a day. And each time, it costs more Primogems. Here’s how the costs breaks down:

  • Refill #1: 50 Primogems
  • Refill #2: 100 Primogems
  • Refill #3: 100 Primogems
  • Refill #4: 150 Primogems
  • Refill #5: 200 Primogems
  • Refill #6: 200 Primogems

Unfortunately, these are the only three ways for you to replenish Original Resin. Many players have started to complain about the current system and while I don’t see it being totally eliminated, it’s possible that miHoYo can adjust certain aspects of it, like increasing the total max you can store or reducing the Primogems cost.
