Focus on the story initially

This should almost be a given, especially given the massive world you’re dropped into that’s literally begging you to explore it, but try to restrain yourself from jumping off the beaten path and just focus on the story, at least in the beginning until you form your full team lineup.

The game essentially gives you four characters completely free, which consist of the main character (male or female), the fire archer Amber, the lightning wizard Lisa, and the ice swordsman Kaeya. Until you have this core group of characters, exploring the world won’t be as rewarding, since you’ll undoubtedly come across many environmental puzzles that require a certain element to solve.

Not to mention, more characters means higher survivability. Your active squad consists of four characters that you can literally switch between on the fly, even mid-combat (which is actually really important), and since each has their own health bar, own weapons and special attacks, this way you’ll have the full repertoire at your disposal, meaning you’ll be able to face tougher enemies and challenges.

Once you have your core characters, feel free to throw caution to the wind and explore the massive world of Teyvat, though like I mentioned in my previous point, you’ll still need to raise your Adventure Rank to see it all.
