Genshin Impact Beginner’s Guide: Everything you need to know to get started
Bring up that Adventure Rank
This is one of the most important aspects of the game since it basically governs what you can and can’t do in Genshin Impact. Many of the game’s systems are gated behind various Adventure Ranks, so raising it fast means that you’ll have a wider range of activities to participate in.
Thankfully, raising Adventure Rank isn’t that complicated, though it can be a bit time-consuming. Basically, anything and everything you do in the world contributes to raising your Adventure Rank. Completing main and sidequests is a good way to net AR XP in bigger chunks, but even smaller tasks like opening chests across the world of Teyvat awards it as well.
A super helpful way to earn Adventure Ranks faster is to get yourself the Adventurer’s Handbook, which you unlock after you complete the initial set of main story quests and earn your four free characters after Adventure Rank 12. You can then pick it up by visiting Katheryne in Mondstadt who can be found near the entrance by the compass symbol.
The handbook tracks everything you do and rewards you for completing those activities, even retroactively, with various items, but more importantly, Adventure Rank XP. Furthermore, the handbook can be used as a guide in case you ever find yourself trying to figure out what to do next, as well as keeping track of daily activities that you can partake in for some sweet loot.
