We dig through Thor’s history to come up with three costumes we want for him in Marvel’s Avengers.

There’s no shortage of costumes for each of Earth’s Mightiest in Marvel’s Avengers. But there’s also a large catalog for Crystal Dynamics to choose from when coming up with alternate outfits for our beloved heroes.

The Thor I got isn’t really the best one in the game but for some reason, I wanted my team to have a darker look and when you want to know how dark this Thor can look the answer is none. None more black. But he doesn’t really have a whole lot to chose from. Despite having one of the most bombastic personalities in the Marvel Universe he’s pretty much got one load of laundry to do every so often.

So while most of his costumes look fairly identical, the few attempts the game makes to break the mold are interesting to say the least. This one that makes Thor look like he walked straight out of an 80’s hair metal band.

I mean dang. That’s the most unique thing he gets? This is no way to treat a god. Let’s look into some ways to fix this hottest of messes.

Ultimate Universe Thor

Forever ago Marvel had a line of comics that took place in the Ultimate Universe. It was pretty much the same as our universe but everything was weirdly edge and slightly different but it did give us Miles Morales so we’re good.

It also gave us a really interesting take on Thor though. When Thor first appeared he was believed to be a lunatic for a really long time in comic time. He was, supposedly, a rejected experiment from a European version of the Super Soldier Project.

Eventually, this turned out to be a trick by Loki meant to cause hell for his brother but it’s a really interesting spin on the character having everyone reluctantly humor someone they think is insane because they want to harness his power. Also, his costume was dope.

His costume is simple but exciting and looks tough as hell especially with the fact that his hammer, Storm Breaker, doubles as an axe. Plus it would be an awesome homage to one of the Ultimate Universe’s most important characters.

The large belt is cool. I love the lack of a cape. And while the leather straps around his legs make little sense they definitely make him look like a man who’s seen battle and couldn’t give a Thor-damn what you think of him.
