Here are three costumes we want to see added to Marvel’s Avengers for Black Widow.

Continuing down the list of Earth’s Mightiest, today we’re looking at Black Widow.  More specifically, we’re looking at some costumes we want to see Crystal Dynamics add for her, and boy does she need it.

If you’ll notice, my group looks like a bizarre shadow ops version of Avengers. I tend to like darker costumes, it’s the part of me that never got to be a goth kid coming to the surface I guess. But another thing you might notice if you’ve played the game is Black Widow has her default costume. I love playing as her but the reason is simple, her costumes kind of suck.

They’re either different layouts of straps over very similar suits or it looks like she’s in the fall catalog for Target’s fall lineup. In fact, here’s one of her legendary outfits.

Seriously, why does she look like this? If she had to engage in spy missions that’s one thing but she’s mostly punching robots and soldiers and this basic ass outfit makes her look like she left the battle for a moment to pick up a Grande Pumpkin Spice latte with soy milk and then complained about the lack of foam.

So here are some costumes from her past that I think would be stellar. I’m trying to not include any from the Marvel Cinematic Universe because, despite a small easter egg involving Captain America visiting Thor’s room, they’re really trying hard to distance themselves from the MCU.

Jessica Drew’s Ultimate Black Widow Costume

Okay, so years ago Marvel had this idea for the “Ultimate” universe. It was supposed to be a slightly grittier universe in which familiar characters did greatly different things. Captain America was definitely stuck in his past and would neg people for sleeping together outside of wedlock. The X-men had a relationship between Angel and a gritty goth version of Dazzler. And The Blob was killed by Hank Pym after he found The Blob eating the corpse of The Wasp. It was… a hoot.

But one area that shined (and gave us Miles Morales) was the Spider-man universe. It even had its own version of the Clone Saga and it wasn’t as bad as the original! One of those clones was Jessica Drew, Spider-Woman. Over time she strived to break away from being another Spider-man (despite being a female clone of Peter Parker) and took the moniker of “Black Widow” and got this costume.

While the haircut screams for a manager, the rest of the outfit is pretty great. I love the minimal detailing with the all-black high neck tights with a simple bright red accent. Adding the red jacket over it also looks really cool as well and kind of adds that aura of “toughness”.

I’d also probably keep the haircut. As much as being a former retail employee scares me away from it, I’d love to crash into an AIM base, grab a Hive Master by the throat, and demand to speak to his manager.
