Madden 21 predictions for the Week 2 roster update
By Lance Liebl
Buffalo Bills
The FAU Owl in me thinks Singletary is good where he is, so I’m not going to let an unimpressive day on the ground affect me there. The takeaway for me was accuracy and ball security from QB Josh Allen. Allen lost two fumbles and had some really ugly passes. Those fumbles alone are a reason to drop him from 77 OVR to 76 despite the win and three combined TD against the Jets.
Miami Dolphins
The easy person to downgrade here would be QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, but he’s just doing the best he can with what he has. For me, there should be an upgrade either for 66 OVR HB Myles Gaskin who was the leading rusher for the Dolphins or 74 OVR MLB Jerome Baker. Baker was dominant on defense with 16 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss and a forced fumble. Increasing his OVR from 74 to 76 is justified after his performance.
New England Patriots
QB Cam Newton didn’t have to beat the Dolphins with his arm, though he was accurate and took care of the ball going 15/19 for 155 yards. But he picked up first down after first down with his legs, running 15 times for 75 yards and two TD. He’s the obvious choice for an increase, possibly moving up 78 OVR to 79.
New York Jets
So the Jets lost to the Bills, but there were some positives. WR Jamison Crowder (80 OVR) was the best WR on the field. But the biggest takeaway for me was how Le’Veon Bell looks like an entirely different back. I don’t know if it’s the defense he was facing or the quality of his offensive line, but Bell did not look or play like an 87 OVR halfback. That rating seems far too high and given based on name alone. I’d say 84 OVR would be a lot more fair.
