Madden 21 predictions for the Week 2 roster update
By Lance Liebl
Denver Broncos
I could go a couple of ways here. I watched this game most closely because I’m a Broncos fan. I think rookie WR Jerry Jeudy should have his release and route running increased to where they are in real life, despite Madden’s Clint Oldenburg saying they have him rated close to accurate. He did say he will get an adjustment, but two drops in a close game won’t help that. 74 OVR TE Noah Fant is the one that deserves the increase the most here, probably to 76 OVR, as he showed he was the best weapon in the game for the Broncos. He led the team with 5 catches, 81 yards and a TD in the first half, and then was only targeted once in the second half. That’s bad playcalling, as Fant is proving he can be an amazing weapon.
Kansas City Chiefs
The obvious answer to receive a ratings boost is 74 OVR HB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who led the Chiefs with 25 carries for 138 yards and a TD. That’s a huge day against a decent Texans defense, as he looked far away like the best best on the Chiefs, and was among the best backs in the NFL for Week 1. He could be the biggest riser in the Madden 21 Week 2 roster update, possible going from 74 OVR to 78.
Los Angeles Chargers
I understand the hesitancy to start rookie QB Justin Herbert, but at this point we all know what Tyrod Taylor is. Mediocre. is 69 OVR considered mediocre in Madden 21? I’d drop him down another point. Meanwhile, I think rookie HB Joshua Kelley (67 OVR) deserves a boost after rushing 12 times for 60 yards and 1 TD.
Las Vegas Raiders
HB Josh Jacobs (88 OVR) is already a high-rated back in his 2nd year in the NFL, but after a day that saw him dominate with 93 yards and 3 TD on the ground, and adding another 46 yards in the air, he’s proving he’s an elite back in the NFL. And elite backs should be rated at least 90 OVR. Get Josh Jacobs to 90 OVR — and you know he deserves it because I’m a Broncos fan and even I’m saying he’s rated too low.
