Comparing the price, release date and hardware of the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

PS5 or Xbox Series X? That seems to be the question everyone will face this holiday season.

And after months of waiting, we finally have some pertinent information that could help you determine which to buy. Both Sony and Microsoft have finally announced the pricing and release dates for their respective consoles.

Specs and hardware aside, here are how the two systems compare at launch.

PlayStation 5 Price and Specs

We already knew there would be two types of PlayStation 5 consoles launching next-gen, one with and one without a hard drive. It seems that will be the primary difference in price between the two.

According to Sony, both models use the same custom processor with integrated CPU and GPU, which supports 4K graphics and ray-tracing. Both will also have ultra-high-speed SSD with integrated I/O for fast loading.

PS5 5 Digital Edition – $399

PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Drive – $499

Both consoles come with a custom 825GB SSD Storage Drive which makes sense since the PlayStation 4 installs games off the discs anyway. The only added benefit of the Ultra HD blu-Ray Disc Drive is that you don’t have to first download the games before installing, so it helps those with slower internet connections.
