Will Nintendo deliver old Pokemon titles come to Nintendo Switch as a port?
With recent news with Nintendo releasing Super Mario 3D All-Stars for the Nintendo Switch, fans of the major video game brand are in a frenzy to see what other games could be re-released for the current gaming counsel.
Nintendo has made major announcements for major titles of the franchise that are returning to the spotlight this holiday for fans to purchase. With the 35th anniversary of Super Mario celebrating three of its major titles; Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy are coming to the Nintendo Switch by the end of September. With all these vintage titles being brought to Nintendo Switch, there is a call from Pokemon fans where they can also share the love. There have been looming rumors from fans of what should be and what will most likely be made when it comes to future titles for Pokemon coming to the Nintendo Switch
Earlier in the year with the most recent Pokemon Presents there was an announcement to bring back an old title that received great criticism. The return of Pokemon Snap coming back to the fold of the franchise was met with great rejoice after taking a hiatus since the first generation of the franchise. New Pokemon Snap will feature more Pokemon than before and will be a direct sequel of the prior title. The developers of the title have announced the game to be available sometime in 2021, with the excitement for trainers to explore all the new features of what Pokemon Snap has to offer.
The anticipation of the New Pokemon Snap has made trainers criticize the current title with Pokemon Sword and Shield. The recent release of the summer DLC has made the game more playable, but still leaves some fans left in anguish and disappointment. The Isle of Armor brought more Pokemon to the recent title, but the incomplete features where the National Pokedex was still left unavailable in the recent title was met with negative feedback from fans. Even with the future release of the Crown Tundra to have more features, it proves the point to fans have claimed that the recent title in Pokemon has been left incomplete. In addition to this recent generation facing the most criticism, the anticipation of the New Pokemon Snap being developed even looks more worked-on with better graphics than the primary games in the franchise.
Pokemon Port Titles that should return
The announcement of older Super Mario titles from prior counsels also brings the demand of what older Nintendo titles will come to the Nintendo Switch. The abandonment of the Stadium series has been left out of place since the last title on the Nintendo Wii with Pokemon Battle Revolution. The synchronization between any player’s profile of any generation and a major counsel was a fantastic feature to take advantage of with more battle to challenge the trainer’s Pokemon. The recent titles that shared that feature with were any Generation Four game with Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver. The title did not continue after the following generation as was left lost with no title to the major counsel while Pokemon still thrived on the handheld. The Stadium series would be even harder to revive now when the Nintendo Switch is a primary counsel for both home and handheld use.
Another series that was met with high criticism was the RPG series on Nintendo Gamecube with Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. Both series were during the time frame that coincided with Generation Three games and the compatibilities worked with the main franchise titles Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen. With a different game-play that used the same model as the Stadium series, both of these styles had their own storyline that was comparable to the core series. The difference included rescuing Pokemon that were consumed by the shadows, something similar to what was in the popular game series Kingdom Hearts, and the primary character had to rescue as many Pokemon as possible. The ability to rescue and purify Pokemon had its benefit to the user who also had the synchronization with the Game Boy Advanced games; because some Pokemon available in the RPG games were not available in the core series. These games should receive the same treatment as the Super Mario 3D All-Stars because vintage games from the Gamecube would receive positive criticism.
Possible Pokemon Remake Titles
In all expectation, the next Nintendo Switch games that will be Pokemon based will most likely contribute to the core series. The first expectation is to have a special edition version of Pokemon Sword and Shield compliment the recent installment of the series. The recent installments of special edition versions have included two games, which includes Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 in Generation Five and Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon in Generation Seven. There is also the possibility of the remake of Generation Four with Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum getting a remake for the Nintendo Switch. It has been over ten years since the release of listed titles, and the last remasters were introduced in Generation Six with Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby. With the positive release of Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, there would be a strong consideration for a Johto installment comes to the Let’s GO series. The popularity of Pokemon GO has resulted in new games introduced in the core series that integrate the popular application with the Nintendo systems.
With the holidays coming around the corner, popular video game titles will be on everyone’s lists for must-have games. By that time, Pokemon Sword and Shield will have both of their DLCs available for players to take advantage of if they have not purchased the title to play for their Nintendo Switch. For what is already promised by Nintendo for future Pokemon titles, they are all promised to be released in the following year and not anytime sooner. New installments will keep Pokemon fans at the edge of their seat until then fans will have to enjoy what they have currently. When the next Pokemon game will be announced, Viridian Forest will be there to report any news on the said event.
