Fall Guys lead designer wants to add PlayStation costumes to the battle royale party game.

Recently I had the privilege of sitting down with Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout lead game developer Joe Walsh to discuss a wide array of topics regarding their battle royale party game. One of the things that were brought up were some of the costumes he’s hoping to see in the future plus more on his charity event.

After discussing how Season 2 was going to be medieval themed, we brought up how a lot of brands, including KFC, and games, like Cyberpunk 2077, have been reaching out to get costumes in the. Rather than gobbling up all the money thrown at them, Mediatonic has been using its platform for leverage to do good, hosting a charity where the highest bidder gets to put whatever costume they want into the game. The charity ended on Monday, August 31 with G2 Esports, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, Aim Lab, and Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, announced as the winners. They pledged. a combined $1 million.

Beyond the charity, we asked Walsh if they had plans for more brand tie-ins. Currently, Fall Guys features costumes based on Portal 2, Half-Life, Team Fortress2, Bulletking and Hotline Miami. He hinted at some “big” tie-ins.

"“We do. We’re not talking about them yet but there are some big tie-ins that we’ve started talking to people around about just like games that we love and games we’re excited about and a lot of opportunities have presented themselves and we’re able to start picking and choosing in a quite privileged way which is exciting. We just announced Season 2 yesterday, it’s going to be medieval themed and hopefully going to be dropping some exciting collaborations during Season 2 as well.”"

When asked about any ideas he personally would like to see for costumes, as a fan, Walsh had a lot of ideas that would definitely win over the Playstation player base.

"“I think one thing we’ve never managed to do yet is Sony IP costumes and there’s so many amazing concepts out there. Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, you know these really big tentpole Playstation IPs would be amazing to get into the game. So I think those really iconic Sony Characters, I’d love to see Fall Guy versions of them because Valve was amazing and basically let us do whatever we want and we’d love to see Sony reach out and make it happen on that platform.”"

Seeing as how Fall Guys made its debut on PlayStaiton via PlayStation Plus, one would assume there’s a working relationship between Mediatonic and Sony to make this sort of thing happen. But while any potential PlayStation outfit is likely down the road, Walsh did hint that another big tie-in could be coming soon.

"“JW: I mean, the Sega anniversary is coming up, you never know. We could do something with that.EH: Is that a hint?JW: I mean, there’s a lot of exciting things happening but it would be cool to get some Sega things in Fall Guys as well, I mean, why not? We all love those games.”"

Sega anniversary costumes would be incredible. Obviously, running through the stages as Sonic are a given but could you imagine a Robotnik/Eggman costume on a Fall Guy? Oof. Personally, I’m holding out for Ristar but we’ll see where this goes before I dream too hard.
