Madden 21: Fastest running backs (RBs) at launch
Here are the 10 fastest running backs in Madden 21 at launch.
Speed kills in the NFL, especially at the skill positions. In Madden 21, a fast and elusive running back can definitely have a major impact on your team. Whether in online play or in franchise mode, here are some of the fastest running backs you’ll want in your backfield in Madden 21.
Interestingly, despite the Dolphins having one of the worst rosters in the game, they have the fastest running back in Matt Breida. The former 49ers running back clocked the NFL’s fastest speed on a touchdown in 2019, reaching a top speed of 22.3 miles per hour.
Tied with him, and an even higher overall, is another 49ers running back, Raheem Mostert. He also clocks in with 95 speed but has an 84 overall, five points higher than Breida.
Giants’ running back Saquon Barkley is one of the highest rated backs in the game and he checks in as the sixth fastest in Madden 21. Cowboys’ backup half back Tony Pollard is also on the list.
Interestingly, I had to expand beyond 10 to highlight Panthers’ superstar running back Christian McCaffrey. He’s not the fastest, but he is the most dynamic back in the league and it would’ve felt wrong to leave him off the least, even one focused on speed. He’s certainly not the fastest in Madden 21 but with a 99 overall, he’s definitely dangerous.

There’s a bunch of other running backs in Madden 21 tied with 91 speed, including Dalvin Cook (Minnesota Vikings), Darrynton Evans (Tennessee Titans), Dontrell Hilliard (Cleveland Browns), Nick Chubb (Cleveland Browns), Tarik Cohen (Chicago Bears) and a few others.
Remember, this list is only for the launch of Madden 21. The week one roster update has still yet to be released. It’s probably coming in September after the final cutdown day but I wouldn’t expect too many changes with player ratings. With no preseason games, there’s nothing for EA to go off of.
