The level cap has always been an area of controversy when it comes to dedicated Pokemon GO players. The popularity of the app has started to see a decline when the limitation of a maximum level puts a stranglehold on keeping players entertained.

Trainers and fans of the application Pokemon GO who have been playing since the debut of the game in 2016 need a new challenge. The introduction of the Battle League had its perks for a limited time frame, distributing Pokemon and rare items that are limited through victory. Recent events and daily research rewarding Pokemon that are not as popular are used in the game and have made trainers groan from a month-to-month basis not looking forward to what the next event would entail. Not to mention that Community Day has not featured any new Pokemon from Unova or powerful species that are from prior regions, like a Riolu or Gible Community Day. With as many as the challenges the creators of the app Niantic has faced during an international pandemic, the company even faces more difficult obstacles keeping their players entertained. The solution is simple, and it seems like it can be a simple demand that can satisfy the application’s general audience. It is time for Pokemon GO to raise the maximum level for a trainer to achieve in the game from level forty.

There has not been any fulfillment for players who have gained level forty since the app debuted. On average, the number of players that remained dedicated since the release of the app took about two to three years to accomplish the goal of reaching that level. Slowly but surely, the group of players that get to level forty is joining a collection of the familiar company that remains unchallenged by the features of the app. What makes the situation even graver for these players is that they are left with no tasks that give them any reward after maxing out at this level. The only highlight these players look forward to is limited events like Community Day due to the fact that is only the rewarding time frame where any trainer gains powerful and popular Pokemon.

Even if there is no opportunity to increase the level for players, there needs to be more critical attention to players of Pokemon GO that have reached level forty. If there was a special battle league for trainers that have reached that level, it would have more players want to strive to reach that level for the app. The battle league for level forty players would be a special club for trainers to receive different rare and mythical Pokemon that are not available in the game yet, or that are more regional exclusive that trainers are unable to do so because of travel restrictions. Bonuses can also be rewarded for trainers who reached level forty to take advantage of at any level of raids. These bonuses can have them assigned as leaders, perhaps invite them more players to remote raids and even help raise friendship levels of friends they have added. Following that, there should be bonus incentives for assisting friends in raids; making anyone who is level forty act like a gym leader in the Pokemon world.

The possibility for trainers to reach level fifty should not be ruled of consideration. If it takes an individual to reach level forty to accumulate five million experience points, it would be safe to assume that the experience points needed to reach fifty should be doubled to ten million points. What would make this experience even more rewarding is once a player reaches level forty, a special Field Research by Professor Willow should be unlocked as a new achievement. The first set of events should enforce the trainer to win a number of legendary raids, battle in all three leagues for GO Battles, and defeat Giovanni on Team GO Rocket so that they can first be rewarded with plenty of experience points. Regardless of how many field research objectives this would take for the player, the final reward from accomplishing all of this should be a Master Ball to this individual. Surely this is too much of a reward for a player to receive, but judging from the core series of the Pokemon franchise, the main player receives a Master Ball in the storyline when their Pokemon are at an average level of forty or above.

It should not be an unreasonable concept for the developers at Niantic to bump up the level for players to reach level fifty in Pokemon GO. Trainers who have reached level forty have had this feeling of unsatisfactory and not knowing what to do with the application after reaching that level. If the idea is to introduce two more regions to Pokemon GO, then there should be more rewarding opportunities for players to take advantage of if the app to build longevity. Even if the technology of Pokemon GO finally connects to the latest cloud system of Pokemon Home, there should be an incentive for doing so in Pokemon GO. There was already the Meltan experience for players that connected their profiles to any game file of Let’s Go Pikachu or Eevee; the same event should be made for a new mythical Pokemon to be introduced when connecting Pokemon GO to Pokemon Home. In addition, the new mythical Pokemon could have some significance in the latest installment of the core series in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Until then, Pokemon GO will have to make these updates in the short-term future before finally catching up to the core series of the game.
