Colorado Rockies

The Rockies have two amazing players under 30 locked up for at least the next two years at premium positions with 3B Nolan Arenado (99 OVR) and Trevor Story (93 OVR). Thankfully in MLB The Show 20, Arenado isn’t at odds with and feeling betrayed by the front office. But if you wanna roleplay that, the Rockies could be a fun rebuild.

The early 90s expansion team has a lot of 26 and younger B potential starting pitchers, headlined by German Marquez (79 OVR, 4 years $34.4M). The bullpen is in rough shape, but you can always piece that together like a lot of ball clubs do. Also, bullpen isn’t the main focus of a rebuild. There are some A potential infielders, headlined by 22-year-old SS Brendan Rodgers. This kind of gives some incentive to move Story in a rebuild, but you could keep both and put Rodgers at 2B or 3B.

There’s not really a ton of big contracts outside of Arenado and Story, but some noticeable ones are Charlie Blackmon (33-years-old, 4 years $72M), Daniel Murphy (1 year at $12M) and Ian Desmond (34-years-old, 2 years $28M).

The main decision to make is what to do with Trevor Story and 26-year-old LF David Dahl. Both are young enough and good enough that you could make them the centerpieces of your rebuild. But doing this rebuild means you’re committed to moving the unhappy Nolan Arenado. That’s the piece that going to bring back pretty much whatever you want.. But keep in mind that you might have to take a bad contract back if the team can’t afford Arenado, and then you’ll have to flip that.
