New PC games for August 2020: Horizon Zero Dawn makes the leap
PlayStation’s Horizon Zero Dawn will be coming to PC in August.
Horizon Zero Dawn, one of the PlayStation 4’s critically acclaimed titles, will be making the leap to PC in August. The award-winning title was originally released in 2017 and has since become one of the best-selling PS4 games with over 10 million copies sold to date. Now an entirely new demo will get to explore this world overrun by machines.
Horizon Zero Dawn launches for PC on August 7, marking the first major release of the month. And it couldn’t come at a better time as Sony just recently revealed a sequel is in development, although that will almost certainly see a launch on PlayStation 5 before making its way to PC (if it ever does).
August is filled with a bunch of games coming to PC as well, including A Total War Saga: Troy, Madden NFL 21, Wasteland 3 and more. Here’s the full list:
- Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout – August 4
- Fast & Furious Crossroads- August 7
- Horizon Zero Dawn- August 7
- Risk of Rain 2 – August 11
- A Total War Saga: Troy – August 13
- Microsoft Flight Simulator – August 18
- PGA Tour 2K21 – August 21
- Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time – August 21
- Tell Me Why: Chapter One – August 27
- Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars – August 28
- Madden NFL 21 – August 28
- Project CARS 3 – August 28
- Wasteland 3 – August 28
- Windbound – August 28

While it technically released this month, PC gamers can also enjoy Obsidian Entertainment’s Grounded, which launched in Early Access and Game Preview for Steam and Xbox. It’s still fresh enough that I’m counting it towards August’s releases.
Beyond that, inXile’s Wasteland 3 will finally be released, nearly four years after it was first announced. The squad-based RPG is set in the freezing wastelands of a post-apocalyptic Colorado where players will take control of the laster surviving member of the Ranger Squad Team November. Decisions and choices you make throughout the game will have an impact on the story and campaign, which can be played either solo or cooperatively with another player.
