Blitz and Relentless are two new X-Factors for Pass Rushers in Madden 21.

Finally showing defense some love, EA highlighted the X-Factors for pass rushers in Madden 21. Six  X-Factors were revealed, two of which are new to the franchise. Run Stuffer, Unstoppable Force, Fearmonger and Momentum Shift return, and they are joined by Blitz and Relentless.

Blitz

Blitz is assigned to defensive line motivators such as Los Angeles Rams RE Aaron Donald.  As the most dominant defender in the NFL, Donald’s presence will provide a boost to the entire defensive line by wiping the resistance bars of all blockers when triggered with two defensive line sacks. This lasts until one down is played.

Relentless

Relentless, as the name suggests, is for the Superstars with a seemingly endless motor. Triggered with one sack or tackle for loss, Relentless removes the points cost for rush moves. The X-Factor is assigned to Houston Texans’ LE J.J. Watt and San Francisco 49ers RE Nick Bosa, who I think we can all agree are both relentless in attacking the quarterback. Relentless is knocked out of the zone if the offense gains 20 yards.

Run Stuffer

Baltimore Ravens RE Calais Campbell is the only Run Stuffer X-Factor. There aren’t too many linemen who can single handily shut down an opposing team’s running game. Campbell is one of them. When entered in the zone, this ability increases win rate and block sped speed against one-on-one run blocks. It’s triggered with two tackles for loss and knocked out if 30 offensive yards are allowed.

Unstoppable Force

Unstoppable Force is reserved for Superstars who just can’t be stopped. Cameron Jordan (New Orleans Saints), Danielle Hunter (Minnesota Vikings), Demarcus Lawrence (Dallas Cowboys), Joey Bosa (Los Angeles Chargers), Khalil Mack (Chicago Bears), Myles Garrett (Cleveland Browns) and T.J. Watt (Pittsburgh Steelers) are all assigned this zone ability which increases win rate and block shed speed against one-on-one pass blocks. Unstoppable Force is triggered with two defensive line sacks and knocked out with 10 offensive yards allowed.

Fearmonger

Chandler Jones (Arizona Cardinals, LOLB) and Fletcher Cox (Philadelphia Eagles, DT) instill fear in opposing quarterbacks. Even if they aren’t blowing by blockers, their mere presence on the field will rattle the quarterback. When in the zone, they have a chance to pressure the quarterback while engaged with a blocker. This is triggered with two defensive line sacks and knocked out with 20 offensive yards allowed.

Momentum Shift

Like Aaron Donald, Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris Jones is an elite player capable of demoralizing opposing linemen. When in the zone, all on-field opponents are knocked out of the zone or lose any progress towards entering the zone. This is triggered with three hit-stick tackles or two defensive line sacks and only lasts for one down, which is all you really need to shift momentum.
