Best players to trade for in MLB The Show 20
By Lance Liebl
Relief Pitcher / Closer
Josh Hader (MIL) – Age 25, Overall 84, Potential A, Contract $4.1M (3 years ARB)
Need an under control closer who throws heat? Look no further than Hader. He has a 97mph fastball and a nasty 82mph slider for a strikeout combo. One of the harder relievers to trade for, but if you’re desperate for a closer, this is the guy to get.
Kelvin Herrera (CHIW) – Age 30, Overall 66, Potential D, Contract $9M (Final Year)
An easy pickup due to age, overall, potential and salary, but has five pitches with a fastball that hits 97mph, and pretty good control. Can play above his overall due to the fastball.
Joe Kelly (LAD) – Age 31, Overall 73, Potential C, Contract $7.7M (1 year left at $9M)
An easy bullpen piece to trade for that has 99 ratings for Velocity and Break, and a fastball that reaches 97mph.
Seth Lugo (NYM) – Age 30, Overall 85, Potential B, Contract $2M (2 years ARB)
Lugo is one of the elite relievers and can go multiple innings. He has great control, velocity and breaking pitches, and his fastballs reach 96mph. He’s also on a team friendly contract.
Touki Toussaint (ATL) – Age 22, Overall 63, Potential A, Contract $584K (3 years RNW, 3 years ARB)
Young and under control for 6 years, he’s an excellent piece for a rebuild. His fastball hits 96mph and he has 55 stamina (more than the typical reliever). He can grow into a really great bullpen piece and can go multiple innings in case your starter gets shelled.
A.J. Minter (ATL) – Age 25, Overall 73, Potential B, Contract $584K (1 year RNW, 3 years ARB)
Rated lower than Hader, but cheaper and under control for longer. If you’re looking for a closer for a rebuild, Minter is a nice piece with a 97mph fastball and a Control rating of 70.
Justin Wilson (NYM) – Age 32, Overall 73, Potential C, Contract $5M (Final Year)
Lefty in the final year of his contract that can throw heat.
