A new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is rolling out. Here’s what’s new.

Activision has announced that a new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will roll out tonight, June 29, at 11:00 p.m. PDT (or June 30 at 2:00 a.m. EDT for those on the East Coast). It’s said that the new update will “fundamentally change the battle in Verdansk” and it’s certainly easy to see why. An increased player cap for Battle Royale Quads, a new weapon and piece of gear, new in-match contract and various game modes are among the things coming to Warzone and Modern Warfare multiplayer with the update.

Limited Time 200 Player Battle Royale

Activision is temporarily increasing the player cap for Battle Royale Quads to 200 players total. This will likely mean hot drops no matter where you choose to land so get ready for an even more action-packed experience.

Supply Run Contracts

Supply Run is a new type of in-match Contract that when activated, directs you to a nearby Buy Station. If you and your squad reach the station in time, you will get discounts on your purchases at that Buy Station. Although the description says it’s a “nearby” Buy Station, Activision includes the tip taking “alternate modes of transportation” which leads me to think it’ll send you on a trek. Either way, it might be worth going on as discounted purchases could help you in the long run.

Spotter Scope

The Spotter Scope is a new piece of gear that allows you to scout the environment and mark enemies without being detected since it doesn’t have the glint. This is an amazing addition to the mode, especially if you are more of a stealthy player.

Cheshire Park

A new multiplayer map, Cheshire Park is a “picturesque garden and conservatory where Operators will battle from door to door or through the central flora-filled area.” This seems to offer a mixture of close-quarters battle along with longer sightlines if you take up shelter in the townhomes. The floral courtyard seems like an intense death trap, surrounded by stores with secondary floors, scaffolding and other vertical elements.

Juggernaut Mode

In this new game mode, airdropped care packages will contain the Juggernaut suit with a deadly mini-gun. If you die with the Juggernaut suit, you’ll be sent to the Gulag as usual but a new Juggernaut care package will drop on to the map.

Team Defender

Another new game mode, Team Defender was actually introduced nearly a decade ago. The game mode puts a twist on traditional Capture the Flag. Rather than capturing a team’s flag and returning it to your base, there is only one flag that can be captured. A point is earned for each second your team holds the flag. You can also earn points by eliminating the flag carrier. I am a huge fan of this mode as it allows for some intense multiplayer moments.
