1. Jeremy Roenick, NHL 94

Anyone who has followed the NHL video game franchise over the years knows that the only option to put atop a list is Jeremy Roenick from NHL 94. Many people might have guessed that they would have seen Wayne Gretzky at number one simply because Gretzky was the greatest hockey player to ever walk the earth.

In NHL 94, Jeremy Roenick was way too good as a player. He scored on a majority of the shots that he took and EA Sports created him as an absolute beast. There is a pretty major consensus on how OP Roenick was. Even the movie Swingers had a scene where Vince Vaughn is dominating his buddies with Jeremy Roenick and aggravating his friends with how dominate Jeremy Roenick was in NHL 94.

Summary

It is clear that NHL 94 dominated this list in a major way. It’s actually considered one of the best sport video games that has ever been created. If you are a fan of hockey and haven’t been able to get your hands on NHL 94, I highly suggest that you take the time to play it one of these days. It is such a simple game compared to modern games, but a masterpiece for its time.

Some of you are probably shocked that I featured a list of best NHL video game players without featuring the best hockey player, Wayne Gretzky, on the list. That’s because Gretzky’s prime was over by the time NHL video games started taking the scene. If EA Sports created a NHL video game in the 80s I have no doubt that Wayne Gretzky would have made the list.
