5. Joe Sakic, NHL 2004

Joe Sakic is one of the best players to play hockey of all time. The Hall of Famer had a legendary career scoring 1,641 points (625 Goals, 1,016 Assists) in 1,378 games. Points don’t matter when it comes to video games though. The Colorado Avalanche were one of the best teams in that game and because of that Sakic couldn’t be stopped.

Joe Sakic had such a laser of a shot that it was hard for goalies to stop the puck when he was shooting it. Since NHL 2004 came out towards the end of Sakic’s career you would have thought that EA Sports might have tamed him down a little bit. Instead, EA Sports recognized the career that he had brought to the table and decided to run with that idea of having Sakic the front runner of their 2004 video game.

Joe Sakic also made an appearance on the cover of NHL 2004 after Dany Heatley was pulled off of the cover due to a car accident that saw one of his teammate’s life taken. Regardless of who graced the cover, Joe Sakic was a forced to be reckoned with!
