Hopefully you’ve got a deep backlog of games to play because there’s not much coming to the Xbox One in June.

Summer is already a dull time for new game releases. Couple the fact that we’ve go the Xbox Series X on the horizon — due to launch this holiday season — and it’s no surprise that June is looking bare for new game releases for the Xbox One. Heck, if The Last of Us Part II wasn’t delayed, even PlayStation would be facing the same issue.

The summer time is typically slow when it comes to games as most developers focus their attention on E3 and hyping their new games due out during the holiday season. With that in mind, there are only three games set to launch for the Xbox One in June and I doubt any of them will turn many heads.

Desperados III – June 16, 2020

Desperados III is a real-time tactics game, so already this is targeted towards a niche audience. It’s also the fourth game in the series and the first since the 2007 spin-off Helldorado. I’m not going to pretend I know much about this game because I don’t. I’m sure if you’ve played the franchise, you’re excited but I just can’t see the mass appeal here.

Disintegration – June 16, 2020

This one may actually turn some heads because its directed by Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of the Halo series. The debut title for his studio, V1 Interactive, Disintegration is a first-person shooter with real-time strategy elements. As you play as Romer Shoal, an expert Gravcycle pilot, you can leap in air and hover above the ground while issuing commands to your four-person squad. Disintegration features a full single-player campaign as well as three team-based multiplayer modes.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated – June 23, 2020

When SpongeBob SquarePants debuted was about when I stopped watching Nickelodeon, so I have no loyalty to him. This is a remake of the 2003 game that was originally developed by Heavy Iron Studios. Like most games inspired by an already existing television show, this is a platformer. However, Rehydrated comes with some additional features such as a new multiplayer horde mode which supports PvP and co-op.
