Unova mascots making Pokemon Go debut in raids
Pokemon Go Legendary Raids to finally feature the version mascots from Pokemon Black and White with Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem! The Unova Legendary Dragon-type Pokemon will be swooping into five-star level raids by the end of May.
Unova Pokemon have been available for almost a full year. The seasonal change of the Pokemon available in the app have reflected the same time frame Pokemon would be spawning each change, like in Pokemon Black and White. The legendary Swords of Justice trio and Forces of Nature trio Pokemon have made themselves available in five-star raids, including Genesect available through various promos and EX Raids. It was only a matter of time where the two legendary Pokemon that stood out as the version mascots would become available in Pokemon Go for the first time. Generation five version mascots; Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem, will be making their debut on Pokemon Go as soon as May 26th!
The announcement came from the official Twitter of Pokemon Go on Tues. May 19th with a special promotion video of the three Tao-styled dragons showing off their powers in a short clip of their arrival to five-star raids. Reshiram, the Fire-type dragon that has a radiating white glow will be the first to debut in raids. It will start in raid beginning at 1:00 p.m. (PST) on May 26th for trainers to start battling. Zekrom, the Electric-type dragon with a shocking jet-black coat will follow suit after June 16th. Kyurem, the Ice-type dragon with a shivering presence will be the last Pokemon to make its debut of the three dragons; its debut is to be determined.
These five-star raids will be more accessible via the Remote Raid Battle option that Pokemon Go has made possible for trainers to use. This feature was first introduced to help counter the obstacles the international pandemic of COVID-19 has made playing Pokemon Go more difficult for trainers. The Remote Raid Pass is on sale in the Shop for trainers to purchase, just like any other Raid Pass. Each pass costs 100 coins of the in-game currency. If the trainer cannot afford to buy a pass, they can earn them by participating in remote battles, challenging gyms, or buying them through their service provider app store.
There is a handful of Mythical Pokemon from the Unova region that have yet to make their appearance. Keldeo, a legendary Pokemon that is part of the Swords of Justice Pokemon, has yet to make its debut after all three of those Pokemon have appeared in legendary raids. Victini, the victory Mythical Pokemon has yet to push its luck into raids for trainers to challenge. Meleotta, the musical Mythical Pokemon have also have not gotten a chance to sing its tune. Alongside these rare Pokemon, a great deal of Mythical Pokemon has yet to make their debut from prior generations. Perhaps their time will be featured in a special event sooner than later as Pokemon Go saves more special events for its players.
The Unova Pokemon have almost all successfully made their way from Pokemon Black and White to Pokemon Go. There are still a few Pokemon from the region that have not appeared yet, but it is only a matter of time before they all appear for trainers to catch. Some Pokemon are region exclusive and can only be caught in certain regions of the world. The creators at Niantic never stop challenging their trainers to participate in conquering the Pokemon world from the palm of their hands. It will be more than exciting when the app catches up to the actual Pokemon from the games and become compatible with Pokemon Home.
