Marc-Andre Fleury

This is my wild card pick. When people think of the NHL cover athlete, not many of them are going to think of Marc-Andre Fleury. I am choosing him with good reason though. First off, Fleury is a future hall of famer no doubt about it.

However, when it comes to goalies they don’t particularly have a very good reputation when it comes to being on NHL video game covers. In fact, the last time there was a goalie on the cover of an NHL video game, it was Martin Brodeur back on NHL 14. That is why Marc-Andre Fleury is such a bold prediction. Goalies tend not to be chosen to be on the cover of NHL games, not because they can’t but because there is usually a better offensive player who has shinned in the spotlight in a greater manner.

The Vegas Golden Knights has been the most successful franchise in expansion history. It is only a matter of time before someone on the Vegas Golden Knights gets chosen to be on the cover. They have grown over the past few years in popularity. I know if EA Sports decided to put someone on the cover from the Golden Knights fans wouldn’t be upset by any means. I’m honestly surprised that someone from the Golden Knights weren’t put on an NHL cover sooner because of their historic inaugural season that led them to the Stanley Cup Finals.

It’s only a matter of time before someone from the Golden Knights grace the cover and when they do it should be Fleury. For the career that Fleury has had, he deserves to be put on the cover of an NHL video game before he retires. Being the cover athlete is a huge honor and it is something that EA should grant Marc-Andre Fleury with. That is one of the only things left that he can add to his legendary resume.
