Sports Fair

This one, surprisingly, got removed from the series after only being in the first one. The Sports Fair took place on four different days; the 20th and 21st of March and the 23rd and 24th of September.

Each day of the event, Booker would be up bright and early to help you with some workout routines. Then the day would have a schedule of fun events you could play with the villagers.

Now, given that particular Animal Crossing came out in 2001, almost 20 years ago, it’s a little culturally dated. In the original, you had to pick a gender when you created your character. If your character was a boy, during the sports festival you had to wear blue stripes. Girls had pink ones. Some of the events could only be played “Boys Only” or “Girls Only,” which also applied to which of your townsfolk could join in. Not the best thing.

Anywho, the day came with four events; Aerobics, Foot Race, Ball Toss and Tug-O-War. My personal favorite was Ball Toss. It was a lot like the thing in arcades where you just try to make as many shoots into a basket as you can. The reason I liked it though was that during the hours where this game was the main event, every villager would either be heavily confused as to the point of the event or just think it was pointless. For the latter, I’ll be damned if that’s not me with every sport ever.
