The key to building any successful baseball team is starting pitching. Here are the five best starting pitchers in MLB The Show 20 Diamond Dynasty at launch.

Starting pitching. Everyone needs it. Everyone wants it. Not everyone has it. Continuing our coverage of MLB The Show 20, we’re looking at the best starting pitchers in Diamond Dynasty. This list is the five best starting pitchers that you’ll find in this specific game mode at launch.

It should be noted that the overall ratings in Diamond Dynasty are calculated differently, taking into account the previous three seasons as well as the current season (once it begins). Because of this, the ratings in Diamond Dynasty differ from those in MLB The Show 20‘s other modes.

Also something to keep in mind when looking at the ratings is the new Diamond Club. This is essentially MLB The Show‘s way of signifying who the best players in Diamond Dynasty are. Anyone rated 85 and above are considered part of the Diamond Club.

It sounds like there will be somewhere between 8-10 starting pitchers in MLB The Show 20‘s Diamond Dynasty who are 85 overall or above at launch. Sony San Diego only revealed the five best.

Chris Sale (Boston Red Sox) – 88

When Chris Sale is healthy and on his game, there’s perhaps no one more intimidating to face on the mound. He had a rocky 2019, but thanks to an impressive 2018 season and a positive outlook on the upcoming season, he enters MLB The Show 20’s Diamond Dynasty with an 88 overall and the following attributes:

Justin Verlander (Houston Astros) – 90

Justin Verlander has been in the league for quite some time now but is the model for consistency with starting pitchers. He’s coming off another stellar season in which he led the major leagues with 21 wins and 223 innings pitched. He also put together an impressive 2.58 ERA. He begins Diamond Dynasty with a 90 overall and the following attributes:

Gerrit Cole (New York Yankees) – 90

Gerrit Cole signed a monster contract with the New York Yankees this offseason and will begin MLB The Show 20’s Diamond Dynasty as the third-best starting pitcher with a 90 overall. Cole is coming off a monster year with the Astros in which he compiled a 20 wins and a league-leading 2.50 ERA. It results in the following attributes:

  • 99 BRK

Max Scherzer (Washington Nationals) – 92

Max Scherzer has been one of the most dominant and consistent pitchers in the Majors and he checks into MLB The Show 20‘s Diamond Dynasty with a 92 overall, tied for second best with Jacob deGrom.

Scherzer’s pitch repertoire includes a four-seam fastball (96 MPH0, Slider, Changeup, Curveball and Cutter. His attributes are as follows:

  • 87 CTRL
  • 81 VEL
  • 87 BRK

Jacob deGrom (New York Mets) – 92

Jacob deGrom has been, without a doubt, the best pitcher in baseball for at least the past two seasons.  And if he were playing for a winning team and not the Mets, he’d probably get even more recognition and respect.

The two-time Cy Young winner will start off the season as the best-rated starting pitcher in Diamond Dynasty with a 92 overall. He has a five-pitch repertoire that includes a four-seam fastball that his 97 miles per hour. His attributes include:
