Wargroove – February

With Apex Legends, Tetris 99 and, yes, even Anthem, people were pretty distracted by online games in February. Distracted enough where a game everyone had asked for has dropped and then sat in the shadows by itself all month.

Of course people weren’t asking for Wargroove by name, mind you, but they were asking for a new Advance Wars game. While this game is not that, you’d have a hard time explaining to me how. Not only does the game have the same graphics style and game play but it adds stellar new quality of life features and an ability to make your own map to share with others.

If you even slightly like tactical games you’re missing out by missing this.

Yoshi’s Crafted World (Nintendo Switch) – March

I know it sounds weird to list a Nintendo made game on the Nintendo Switch as a sleeper, but oh my god, did you all sleep on this one.

Yoshi’s Crafted World‘s worst enemy was its demo. While the demo was fun it was the most kiddy-stage in the entire game. Many wrote it off as a game for just children but the difficulty escalates and you get a game with some really fun and innovated boss battles, complex stages and a ton of unlockables.

Also, whoever added a stage to this where you go through a dark dirty city and get chased by invincible axe wielding clowns have a lot to explain to my kids’ therapist.
