No More Heroes III – Release Date: 2020

Although the No More Heroes series has technically appeared outside of Nintendo consoles, the core numbered series has largely been exclusive to Nintendo (aside from a spin-off as well as a remake of the original No More Heroes). It’s been ten years since the release of the Wii exclusive No More Heroes II: Desperate Struggle, but No More Heroes III will follow-up on the story seen in the 2019 spin-off Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. However, the core gameplay will largely keep the hack-and-slash elements from the previous entries.

According to series creator Goichi Suda (a.k.a. Suda51), the main inspiration for No More Heroes III was the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, particularly the Avengers flicks. The game’s story features a large-scale alien invasion that the series protagonist, assassin anti-hero Travis Touchdown, must prevent with his lightsaber-inspired Beam Katana.

Along with Suda, many of the same core staff that worked on Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes are also involved in this game’s development, which should help make sure that series fans are not disappointed. Like many games on this list, No More Heroes III doesn’t have a specific release date, but Nintendo still has the game listed for a 2020 release.
