MUT 20: Luke Kuechly, Antonio Gates M20 Tributes available in Madden Ultimate Team

Madden Ultimate Team is celebrating the marvelous careers of both Luke Kuechly and Antonio Gates with limited time M20 Tribute cards.

The NFL was shocked this week when Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly announced his sudden retirement from the sport. At just 28-years-old, Kuechly chose to step away from the game he has played his whole life.

Drafted in 2012, Kuechly led the NFL in tackles in his first season and won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award. But from 2015 to 2017, he missed seven games due to concussions — which is likely why he chose to retire so young.

In any case, there’s no doubt that Kuechly has left his mark on the NFL. And in celebration of his brief, but impressive career, EA will honor him with an M20 Tribute card in Madden Ultimate Team.

Kuechley isn’t the only player getting a Madden Ultimate Team M20 Tribute. Longtime San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, who also announced his retirement this week, will also be celebrated.

Gates played 16 seasons in the NFL, all with the Chargers. He made eight Pro Bowl appearances and ranks first in NFL history with 21 career multi-touchdown games.

Gates helped revolutionize the tight end position into more of a receiving threat to defenses. He currently ranks 17th among in the NFL for all-time receptions with 955. He’s seventh in receiving touchdowns with 116.

While the length of their careers has differed, there’s no denying both Kuchley and Gates have had a lasting impact on the NFL. Both deserve to have their careers celebrated.

Both players’ M20 Tribute cards will feature them with 97 overall ratings. Kuechley boasts 89 speed, 92 acceleration, 96 tackling, 98 play recognition, 89 block shedding and 94 hit power. Gates has 87 speed, 97 catching, 96 catch in traffic, 94 spectacular catch, 98 short route run and 86 medium route run.

Both players will surely be missed in the NFL and in next year’s Madden 21, but for now let’s celebrate their marvelous careers. The Luke Kuechly and Antonio Gates M20 Tribute cards will be available for a limited time.
